Chandru is a Singaporean and started I-Cube Ltd in April 2011 after working in corporate sector for 26 years, to enable companies in Asia and Africa achieve scale and create Next Generation HR practices. He brought strategic and execution leadership to his roles/assignments in the areas of Organisation capability and Effectiveness, Intuitive visioning and Institution Building, building effective HR functions in different markets, building and /or ramping up shared service centres, Leadership Coaching and developing talent capability, creating and executing a HR Target Operating Model (TOM), providing functional expertise in areas like resourcing, employee engagement, culture building, employer brand building, business integration (M&A), business outsourcing and reengineering.
He can help global companies set up businesses in India, Singapore etc as well as enable local companies in these countries to go global. He has a hands-on style of working with teams and partnering with the CEOs/business heads.
As a full time consultant, he worked with Standard Chartered Bank for 2 ½ years (Program Director, Strategic Initiatives), authored a Standard Coverage Organisation Model for the Client Coverage business and successfully executed the design across 22 countries, saving ~USD 9 M annually for the bank. In addition, he was also responsible for the successful hubbing of the Client due diligence process for the bank from across 30 countries into three Centres of Excellence in India, Dubai and China.
Chandru worked in several industries like pharmaceuticals, chemical, textiles, IT/ITES and banking in his career. A large part of his career was with Standard Chartered Bank. He lived and worked in different cities in India, UK (London), Kenya (Nairobi) and Singapore during his career. Travelling extensively in his regional and global HR roles, he developed expertise in working in Asian and African markets. In Scope International Ltd (a subsidiary of Standard Chartered bank for IT/ITES) in Chennai, he scaled up the Global Shared Service centres in India, Malaysia and China. He was also the Group Head, HR Technology and Operations contributing to the creation and execution of the HR Target Operating Model. He led large and diverse teams in different countries.
He has been to the Business Leadership development programmes at Insead Business School, London Business School and Oxford Business School. He has acquired professional expertise/certifications in psychometric testing, job evaluation, Gallup’s Strength Finder coaching, Global Remuneration Professional (by World at Work, USA). He is certified in Leadership Coaching with “The Leadership Circle” profile, a unique 360 degree framework that measures 18 Creative competencies and Consciousness (11 Reactive tendencies/inner assumptions/beliefs) for the first time.
An avid reader and a writer, several of his articles have been published in leading industry journals, national dailies and other publications. An eloquent speaker, he is a sought after keynote speaker and has chaired/participated in numerous high profile HR and industry events in Asia and Africa.
He has received several awards including Best HR Professional of the Year, 2003, by World HRD Congress, Outstanding HR professional ( Deccan Herald), ranked as amongst the India’s Greatest HR Professionals in 2006 and 2007, and HR Leadership award, 2008 amongst others.
